PRLog (Press Release) – Aug 01, 2011 – On August 6th, Ageless Radio will host Matt Gurwell, CEO and Founder of Keeping Us Safe, an organization that focuses on senior driving safety. Keeping Us Safe has a mission to develop programs that provide senior drivers and their families help to transition the senior from the driver's seat to the passenger's seat at the appropriate time. Gurwell spent 24 years with the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Since his retirement he has written the book, Beyond Driving With Dignity: The Workbook for Families of Older Drivers. The book gives families a step-by-step process to reach agreement when the time comes for the elder family member to stop driving for safety reasons. Keeping Us Safe also has an Enhanced Self-Assessment Program for Senio first drive audi a6 r Drivers based on Gurwel bmw M5 specification l's work with older driver research, best practices, current vehicle safety techniques, and current adaptive equipment.
When asked about his inspiration for Keeping Us Safe, Gurwell responded, "There was never one particular event. It was the result of 20-plus years of holding dying people in my arms at terrible car accidents, and delivering dozens and dozens of death notifications to families. I would much rather work with families bringing a peaceful resolve to this sensitive and uncomfortable issue now, rather than have them deal with it when a State Trooper is knocking on their front door". The program expanded beyond Ohio and now has a national reach.
